Quercus buys new Stef Penney novel

<p>Quercus has acquired the follow-up to Stef Penney&#39;s 2006 Costa Award-winning novel <em>The Tenderness of Wolves</em>. The publisher bought world rights to <em>The Invisible Ones</em> from Diana Tyler at MBA for an undisclosed sum. Quercus published Penney&#39;s debut novel, which went on to become a surprise hit for the publisher during its early years. </p><p>Set in the 1980s England, Quercus described the novel as &quot;a darkly compelling mystery about the disappearance of a young woman from a gypsy family&quot;.</p><p>Penny&rsquo;s first novel, <em>The Tenderness of Wolves</em>, was an international bestseller, which won a number of awards, including the Costa and the Theakston&rsquo;s Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award. Foreign rights were sold in 34 countries.</p><p>Quercus will publish <em>The Invisible Ones </em>in September 2011.&nbsp; </p>
