Quercus has acquired an authorised biography of WBA world heavyweight boxing champion David Haye. Non-fiction publishing director Richard Milner bought world rights in Making Haye: The David Haye Story by sports writer Elliot Worsell from David Luxton of Luxton Harris. The book will be published in October.
Haye said he had trusted Worsell with material he would not have shared with another writers. "Elliot has been with me at my highest and lowest moments and has been involved in situations that are off-limits to most other people," he said.
"Some of the book's content made me happy, some made me sad and other parts made me squirm uncomfortably, but I'm glad Elliot was honest in his reporting and refused to pull any punches. This is the first and most honest account of my career you could possibly find."
Milner said Haye was "one of boxing's superstars" and was committed to publicising and promoting the book, "which tells his story like it is".
