Quercus has snapped up an “emotional page-turner” by Linda Green in a two-book deal.
Fiction publisher Cassie Browne and editor Emily Yau acquired world English rights from Anthony Goff at David Higham Associates for The Second Time We Met and one untitled novel. The first book will be published in e-book and audio this September, with a paperback to follow in March 2020.
The synopsis states: “The Second Time We Met tells the story of Finn, a boy with problems at home and school, and Kaz, a no-nonsense café worker with plenty of troubles of her own. The novel opens with them meeting for the first time. What they don’t know is that the second time they meet, something will happen that changes their lives forever.”
Browne said: “Working with Linda and Anthony is such a joy and we’re absolutely thrilled to be publishing Linda’s new novel in e-book and audio this autumn. Linda has the most incredible ability to write extraordinary and relatable stories, with emotional twists at the heart of her books. The Second Time We Met is all this and more - a beautifully poignant drama with unforgettable characters at its heart.”
Green is the author of nine novels with Nielsen BookScan figures showing she has total UK print sales of 286,373 copies for £1.19m. Her 2016 hit While My Eyes Were Closed (Quercus) is her bestseller, racking up 68,715 sales.
She said: “I’m delighted that Quercus will be publishing two more of my novels and to be working with Cassie, who shares my passion for bringing this story to the widest possible audience. Finn is a character who may break readers’ hearts, but the story is very much about mending broken hearts and lives too.”
