Quercus has promoted Bethan Ferguson to marketing director as part of a drive to strengthen its marketing and publicity departments.
Ferguson, who joined Quercus in 2011, said: “I am delighted to be part of such a smart and creative team, and to have this opportunity at a time when Quercus and its family of imprints are going from strength to strength; 2016 is shaping up to be quite a year for us.”
Jon Butler, Quercus m.d, said: “Bethan’s richly-deserved promotion comes at the end of a year in which her marketing team, working in tandem with a very talented group of publicists under Hannah Robinson, has been integral to Quercus’ continuing renaissance within Hachette. Bethan and Hannah’s teams have delivered eye-catching, beautifully orchestrated and often incredibly complex international campaigns with energy, creativity and grace. Their campaign for The Girl in the Spider’s Web (MacLehose Press) stands out in particular, delivering a huge number one bestseller simultaneously in multiple English-language territories.”
Along with senior marketing executive Ella Pocock, Ferguson's team will be supported by marketing assistant Jess Lyons, who moves over from her role as joint marketing and publicity assistant.
In the publicity department, Olivia Mead recently joined as press officer, working across all Quercus imprints with particular responsibility for Jo Fletcher Books, while Alainna Hadjigeorgiou is appointed publicity assistant. Both roles report to publicity director Hannah Robinson.
Senior publicity manager Corinna Zifko, who has particular responsibility for MacLehose Press, will go on maternity leave from December. Her replacement will report to deputy publicity director Fiona Murphy.
