Quadrille has acquired A Short Book About Drawing by journalist, author and presenter Andrew Marr, with plans to publish in autumn 2013.
Managing director Alison Cathie bought world rights from Ed Victor in the title, which was written during the winter of 2012 and completed weeks before Marr suffered the major stroke from which he is currently recovering.
The book aims to answer questions such as: what, really, is drawing, and how does it help us understand the essential human experience? It explores the subject of drawing from Marr's standpoint as an "enthusiastic, untaught, drawer and painter who finds himself making sketches, on the edges of newspapers, or painting, almost every day". The title is illustrated with more than 50 of the author's own pictures.
Victor said: "This is the book Andrew has wanted to write for years and years. It is deeply personal, passionate and, as with everything he publishes, beautifully written."
It will be published as a £15 hardback on 10th October.
