Pushkin has bought The Wildings, a children’s adventure story about wild cats in Delhi, by Nilanjana Roy.
Commissioning editor Daniel Seton acquired the UK and Commonwealth rights from Lisette Verhagen at David Godwin Associates and will publish on the Pushkin Children’s list.
He said: “From the very first page of The Wildings I fell in love with its rich and exhilarating world—a beautiful and danger-filled Indian urban jungle populated by unforgettable animal characters: battle-scarred tomcats, deadly cobras and a pair of lion-hearted squirrels, to name but a few.”
The Wildings is the first novel by Roy, who is also a journalist and story writer. The book was first published by Aleph in India and rights have been sold in Canada, Germany, Italy and Spain
Pushkin plans to publish The Wildings in two volumes in 2016.
