Pushkin Press finds lost novella

Pushkin Press has signed a long-lost novella by German author Arthur Schnitzler.

Gesche Ipsen, editor at Pushkin Press, signed UK and Commonwealth rights to Late Fame from Zsolnay Verlag (Hanser).

The book, originally written more than 120 years ago, was published in Germany this year and has become a major literary event. The satire looks at the literary scene of the time, where a group of young artists exploit a middle-aged man's desire for literary success.

NYRB Classics has signed North American rights.
