Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials series is released today (5th March) in e-book format for the first time.
Penguin Random House, which owns the digital rights to the trilogy, is publishing Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass as e-books, priced at £5.49 each. It is also publishing an e-book of "The Collectors", the short story Pullman wrote for Audible in December, for 99p.
Publisher Annie Eaton said: “Reading 'The Collectors' and being back in Philip Pullman’s fantasy world was an absolute joy. I am hugely excited that we are able to bring this new story and all three His Dark Materials novels to a wider audience with the new e-book editions.”
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the publication of Northern Lights and Scholastic, which has the print rights to the trilogy, is today releasing new paperback versions of the books.
His Dark Materials is one of the most acclaimed YA series ever written and sales have amounted to 4,374,993 copies, according to Nielsen BookScan. Northern Lights received the Carnegie medal in 1995.
