Kay’s Anatomy: A Complete (and Completely Disgusting) Guide to the Human Body, signed by Puffin earlier this year, is the first children's book from the bestselling comic, writer and former doctor. The audiobook publishes on 15th October, simultaneously with the hardback and e-book.

The cast also includes Desiree Birch, Andy Nyman, Rose Matafeo, Joe Wilkinson, Mike Wozniak, the book's illustartor Henry Paker, Lucy Montgomery, Tom Allen, Dan Tetsell and Jan Ravens.

Puffin said: “In this hilarious, interactive and informative edition of the book, rescripted especially for audio and perfect for the whole family, listeners are treated to a range of much-loved and talented voice actors taking on comedic roles as various organs and body parts. Sandi Toksvig plays the know-it-all brain, Rose Matafeo is the ever-energetic heart, Reece Shearsmith plays a dastardly virus, with Mark Gatiss as a drooling Dracula.”

Kay’s Anatomy also includes a 3D audio experience featuring sound effects throughout. The effects are created by ID Audio, the production team behind the incredible Wimpy Kid 3D audio editions.

Kay said: “I was blown away by Puffin’s ambitions for the audiobook, redesigning the book from the ground up to work as a unique listening experience. The cast are absolutely phenomenal, and best of all it meant I didn’t have to read so much of it myself.”

Laura Marlow, editor at Penguin Random House Audio, said: “It has been an incredible experience collaborating with Adam and the Puffin team to create a totally unique and immersive audiobook edition of Kay’s Anatomy. With each organ of the body brought vividly to life by a phenomenal cast of voice actors and 3D sound effects, listeners will be able to hear every beat of the heart and every hilarious squelch that Kay’s Anatomy has to offer.”
