Profile Books will publish a new ghost story from writer Susan Hill in time for Halloween.
Dolly, a novel about two cousins who spend their summer isolated in the Fens with a cruel aunt and her housekeeper, will be released as a hardback book on October 5th at a price of £9.99.
Hill’s novel The Woman in Black, published by Profile in hardback, was made into a play that has run in the UK for more than 20 years. Last year, it was turned into a hit film starring Daniel Radcliffe, relaunching Hammer Films and becoming the biggest British box office success of 2011.
The UK and Commonwealth rights for the new story were bought by Profile m.d. Andrew Franklin from Vivien Green at Sheil Land.
He said: “If it weren’t for the fact that her writing caused what little hair I have left to stand on end, a new book from Susan Hill would be pure unadulterated pleasure.”
Profile has previously sold 150,000 copies of Hill’s different ghost stories, and she was awarded a CBE for her services to literature earlier this year.
