HRH the Prince of Wales will take part in a publishing first this month when he becomes the first monarch-in-waiting to release his own audiobook.
Prince Charles will provide the unabridged audio to his book Harmony: A New Way of Looking at the World. The Prince of Wales recorded the audiobook over several days at his family home at Highgrove House, Gloucestershire, and his Scottish residence in Birkhall.
The audio of Harmony will be published by HarperAudio alongside the hardback release on 14th October. The CD will be priced £14.99 and the download will cost £10.49. The book, published by Harper-Collins imprint Blue Door, argues that humanity has become "dangerously disconnected" because of pursuit of economic growth and technological advances.
Patrick Janson-Smith, Blue Door publisher, said: "Who better than the Prince of Wales to read the Blue Door audio edition of Harmony? We had hoped he might be able to read the introduction, so imagine how thrilled we were when we were informed that he had decided he wanted to read the whole book. It is a masterly performance."
Jo Forshaw, head of audiobooks, said: "The book has a very important message to share, and by publishing in audio format alongside the traditional book format, and particularly as a download, we will be able to bring this message to a much wider audience.
"The book is unabridged and both digital platforms and CD are priced competitively as we hope to reach non-traditional audio customers. It's always very exciting to hear an author read their own work, and hearing such a vital message being delivered by His Royal Highness himself is a proud moment for HarperAudio."
