PRH to publish colouring books based on classic novels

Penguin Random House (PRH) Children’s will this autumn release a series of colouring books for a crossover audience based on classic novels.

The first title in the Puffin Classics Colouring Books range, due for publication on the 1st October, is Escape to Wonderland, based on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Other titles include Escape to Christmas Past, released 5th November, which is inspired by Charles’ Dickens A Christmas Carol, and Escape to Oz (7th January 2016) based on L Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz.

All the titles were designed by Good Wives & Warriors, an illustration partnership created by Becky Bolton and Louise Chappell, and include scenes from the original stories.

Shannon Cullen, PRH Children’s publisher for fiction, said: “There is clearly an insatiable appetite for colouring books, and we feel that the smaller format would make these colouring books perfect for slipping into a handbag or school bag. Who doesn’t want to bring the Mad Hatter’s tea party to life in their own vibrant, colourful way?"

R.r.p is set at £6.99 and the books will appeal to both adults and children, said PRH.
