Hemali Sodhi has been appointed senior vice president of marketing for Penguin Random House India, with Caroline Newbury - currently vice president of marketing and corporate communications - leaving PRH in 2016 to return to the UK.
Sodhi will be responsible for all marketing activities for PRH India and will take on the role in addition to her current responsibilities as publisher of children’s.
Sodhi said: “I’m really looking forward to taking on the responsibility of marketing and brand building again, and working with the wonderful Penguin Random House family of authors. Penguin Random House is at the forefront of a very exciting time in publishing in India, and it's a great opportunity to work alongside my immensely talented colleagues to build a community of future readers, and grow the market to be one of the biggest and most significant in the world.”
Newbury said: “What was supposed to be a six month secondment has turned into a four-year adventure and it has been an absolute privilege to have been able to work with all our incredible authors, publishers and books. I will be eternally grateful for having had this opportunity to work alongside such a talented, enthusiastic and passionate team and will greatly miss not only everyone in the company but also all those in the wider publishing world who welcomed me so warmly.”
Newbury will remain with the company in India to work on strategic initiatives across digital through 2016, with Sodhi taking up her new position on 1st April 2016.
