E-book subscription site Oyster has partnered with Pottermore to make all 10 Harry Potter-related titles available via a subscription service.
The offering, only available in the US, includes the seven Harry Potter novels by J K Rowling, and also her three Hogwarts Library Books – The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Quidditch Through the Ages, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The deal makes Oyster the only e-book subscription service to offer all 10 books. Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited subscription service, both in the UK and the US, has the seven novels available for readers, but not the three extra books.
Oyster readers can access the Harry Potter titles through the latest version of the app, version 1.9 and 3/4 - a reference to the train platform at King’s Cross that Harry Potter travels to Hogwarts from.
Once users open one of the Harry Potter titles, they can choose one of the “house themes”, inspired by Hogwarts’ houses Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff, instead of Oyster’s regular themes. Alternatively, users can tap the Sorting Hat icon to have a theme picked at random.
Oyster has also launched a Harry Potter page in its "explore" tab, giving fans of Harry Potter suggestions for other books on Oyster they might like.
The subscription service is publicising the new partnership through its online publication The Oyster Review, posting editorial content celebrating Harry Potter. It is also running a competition for a reader and a guest to win a trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in the Universal resort in Florida, America.
