Parenting publisher Pinter & Martin is to publish of The Positive Birth Book by Milli Hill, founder of The Positive Birth Movement, an online platform designed to help improve the birth experience of women.
The publisher holds world rights to the The Positive Birth Book: A New Approach To Pregnancy, Birth And The Early Weeks.
The title will "celebrate birth and equip women with the knowledge and resources to plan the birth they want". With the aim of "challenging negativity and fear of childbirth, inspiring women with confidence and offering the latest evidence based information", The Positive Birth Book will introduce "cutting edge and empowering ideas about childbirth, directly into the mainstream".
Hill said: "Through the success of The Positive Birth Movement, I’ve learnt that there is a huge appetite among women for more positive information about birth. Women are tired of the negativity and horror stories, and they just want to hear a new narrative, some positive information about how strong their bodies are, about what birth is actually like, and about how they really can do it. It will be quite clear from the outset that what happens to you in birth is not ‘pot luck’, and that there are many things you can do to maximise your chances of having a really great experience.
"I’m so excited about this book, and particularly honoured that Pinter and Martin have agreed to publish it, since they also publish so many leading voices in the birth arena, heroes of mine such as Sheila Kitzinger, Ina May Gaskin and Michel Odent."
Martin Wagner, managing director at Pinter & Martin said: "We are thrilled to be publishing this fresh approach to childbirth by the founder of the Positive Birth Movement, which is taking the birth world by storm."
The Positive Birth Book by Milli Hill is due for publication by Pinter & Martin in Spring 2017 as a paperback original priced at £14.99.
