Walker has appointed Julia Posen to the newly-created position of executive vice-president and commercial director, group rights and development.
Posen was formerly director of marketing, brands and licensing, having joined Walker in 2010, following 12 years at BBC Worldwide. Hers is the first position to be announced as part of the recently appointed chief global development officer Helen McAleer's future plans for the group rights and development division. Posen will report directly into McAleer.
Posen will be responsible for the global merchandising revenues of the Walker Group as well as strategic sales and marketing plans across all key territories. She will also be responsible for the global marketing strategy the rights and development division, including Walker Productions.
She will continue to be a director of Walker Productions, and will manage in-house teams across digital licensing, group L&M and all marketing and communications for the new divisions.
McAleer said: "The new division is an opportunity for us to grow the commercial activities for the Walker Group in publishing, licensing and merchandising, TV production and digital rights across the globe. Julia's expertise and vast knowledge of the industry ensures a world-class commercial rights management team to take characters and properties from across the globe and develop them to their highest commercial potential."
