Simon & Schuster UK has appointed former HarperCollins publicist Polly Osborn to the position of adult marketing and publicity director.
Formerly publicity director for non-fiction at HarperCollins, Osborn's new position will see her take overall responsibility for Simon & Schuster UK’s marketing, publicity and communications activities for the adult publishing programme. Reporting to chief executive and publisher Ian Chapman, Osborn will join the senior management team when she starts on 3rd December.
Osborn has worked at HarperCollins, Transworld and Penguin Random House, across fiction and non-fiction, and has a strong reputation for being "innovative, strategic and a commercially-minded leader", said S&S.
Chapman said: "I am delighted that Polly will be joining Simon & Schuster UK. Polly has a passion for books, is a great talent in her field, and is fully engaged across all areas of publishing. We shall certainly be the beneficiary of the excellent experience she gained at Transworld and, most recently, HarperCollins.
"Polly’s appointment comes at a significant time for the company as we take our business to new levels. She certainly is the right person to join our senior management team to make this happen across the vital areas of marketing and publicity."
Osborn said: "At HarperCollins, I have had the privilege of working on truly brilliant books alongside some of the most talented people in the industry. As such it had to be a remarkable opportunity that would tempt me away. Simon & Schuster is clearly an exciting place to be at the moment. I'm really looking forward to working with the team on bringing their impressive list to new audiences."
