A man has been arrested and bailed in connection with a £1.9m fraud alleged to have taken place at wholesaler Bertrams. Norfolk Police made the arrest. A police spokeswoman told The Bookseller that his bail would last until March.
The Norwich-based wholesaler said in April that it had discovered an employee had been "fraudulently controlling" a customer account. In October, Bertrams said its insurers had agreed to recompense the £1.9m loss, minus a deductible sum of £65,000.
The Serious Fraud Office originally investigated the incident before passing its findings to Norfolk Police.
Bertrams, based in Norfolk, has given statements to the police. The company declined to comment to The Bookseller following the arrest.
