Plunkett-Hogge's memoir of a 'life unplanned' to Mitchell Beazley

Mitchell Beazley is set to publish Adventures of A Terribly Greedy Girl, a memoir by acclaimed food and drink writer Kay Plunkett-Hogge.

Alison Starling, publisher at Octopus Publishing Group, which Mitchell Beazley is a part of, acquired world rights all languages direct from the author.

The title offers “a moving, funny, food-based memoir with recipes set in Bangkok, London, LA and New York” and “celebrates a life lived entirely unplanned”, the publisher said.

Plunkett-Hogge looks back at the happy accidents, regrettable errors and unexpected opportunities that led to a career as a food and drink writer, via stints in the worlds of fashion and film in the title, while sharing 25 recipes she discovered along the way, from her grandmother's apple crumble to sashimi with Thai salsa verde.

Plunkett-Hogge said: “This was a joy to write and I am delighted to share these stories and recipes from a life that has been lived entirely unplanned.”

Starling added: "Having worked with Kay on three previous books I already knew that she writes like a dream, but this memoir reveals her as an English Nora Ephron – warm, witty and wise – an inspiration to women at all stages of life. It’s a book to buy for one’s sister, mother or best friend – or to read curled up on a sofa with a glass of wine.”

Adventures of A Terribly Greedy Girl will be published in February 2017 at £12.99.
