'Plug and play' audiobook device nears

<p>A new "plug and play" audiobook player is to go on sale through booksellers from next April. Macmillan is the first UK publisher to invest in the player, which is sold pre-loaded with audiobooks. </p><p>The device is powered by AAA batteries, comes with headphones, and can store up to 50 hours of spoken-word content. It cannot be re-recorded, and the MP3 files cannot be digitally transferred or burned onto CD.</p><p>Macmillan will call its version of the device "Word Play", and will launch with 16 players.
