Frances Pinter has been appointed as chief executive officer of Manchester University Press, having been interim c.e.o. since August last year.
Professor Alistair Ulph, chair of the MUP board, said: "Frances is an outstanding appointment to lead the Press in its next phase of development. The post attracted a very strong international field, but we were impressed by the plans Frances presented for investing in and developing MUP to be a distinctive and innovative university press to meet the technological and organisational challenges facing academic publishing.”
Pinter's latest initiative Knowledge Unlatched, a partnership between research university libraries and scholarly presses is of particular relevance to her new role at MUP, the university said. The University of Manchester is one of the Knowledge Unlatched partners and "keen to support the next stages of its development".
Pinter was previously publisher at Bloomsbury Academic.
Previous MUP c.e.o. David Rodgers retired last year.
