Online book-club and digital reading platform The Pigeonhole is collaborating with e-book publisher Bahati Books to serialise Mother Never Sleeps, a free anthology of "the best new African writing today".
The two organisations have chosen 10 short stories by writers from across the continent and beyond: with tales of broken marriages and blossoming romance, car chases and minibus rides, Catholic confessions and corrupt ministers, these daily digital doses of fiction will have readers glued to their screens and wanting more", a spokesperson said.
The Pigeonhole will be serialising Mother Never Sleeps in 10 daily digital instalments delivered straight readers’ devices via the Pigeonhole iOS app, Android app or web reader. The serialised edition will include multimedia extras such as biographies, images, links and music as well as an in-text comments function that enables readers to discuss the book with each other and the authors within the digital margins of the book itself.
The contributors have been chosen from Bahati Books’s list of authors. They are Maryam Aliko Mohammed, Stanley Gazemba, Jude Idada, Sylva Nze Ifedigbo, Joe Machina, Ayibu Makolo, Margaret Muthee, Hannah Onoguwe, Zainab Omaki and Marko Phiri.
