Zosienka centre celebrated the launch of her debut picture book Baby Bird (First Editions), written by Andrew Gibbs, at Pages of Hackney in London on Wednesday 14th March. Zosienka is pictured alongside editor Kate Davies right and bookshop manager Jo Heygate.

Macmillan Children's Books' bestselling author Andy Griffiths launched a writing competition in partnership with Go Ape on Tuesday 13th March. 

 

Hachette held a 2018 showcase for their staff on Monday 12th March. Guest speakers included Malala Yousafzai, who spoke about her new book We Are Displaced (W&N) and her advocacy for girls and women's rights.

PRH Children’s showcased their 2018 highlights on Monday 12th March at The Soho Hotel. Guest speakers included L-R Giovanna and Tom Fletcher, Michael Whaite, PRH Children's m.d. Francesca Dow, Savannah Brown, Jacqueline Wilson, Allan Ahlberg, Andrew Zurcher and Nadia Shireen.

 

On International Women’s Day (Thursday 8th March), Children's Books Ireland launched their BOLD GIRLS initiative - highlighting twenty female Irish authors and illustrators who have made an exceptional contribution to the canon of Irish children’s literature.

 

Philip Hensher right and Alan Hollinghurst celebrated the launch of Hensher’s latest novel The Friendly Ones (Fourth Estate) at John Sandoe Books on Thursday 8th March.

 

On Wednesday 7th March, Vivian French seated was the "star author" at a Reading Force charity event at Colinton Primary School in Edinburgh. The event was to raise awareness of and launch its new initiative, Reading Force to Forces families. (© Suzanne Heffron)
