The DK licensing and marketing teams celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 1st March, 2018 being the first year they have had a title included in the World Book Day list - Marvel Avengers: The Greatest Heroes.

 

Schoolgirls Maya, Cara and Lola, dressed as Boudicca, Audrey Hepburn and Nefertiti, joined ultra-marathon runner Lowri Morgan to mark the launch of Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls 2 at Waterstones Piccadilly on Wednesday 28th February.

 

Jean Adamson MBE, creator of more than 100 much-loved children's books, celebrated her 90th birthday on Tuesday 27th February.

 

Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy left and assistant editor Kish Widyaratna were among the guests at Picador’s 2018 showcase, which took place at the Mail Rail in central London on Tuesday 27th February. 

 

John Cooper Clarke was also in attendance, after it was revealed last week that his memoir and poetry collection were bought by the publisher in an auction. 

 

Meditation expert Bob Roth celebrated the launch of Strength in Stillness: The Power of Transcendental Meditation (S&S UK) at the Wellington Arch Monument in Hyde Park on Monday 26th February. A host of familiar faces were in attendance, including model Daisy Lowe far left, actress Liv Tyler second left and fashion designer Stella McCartney third right.

 

Two Hoots celebrated two years of publishing with a party at Ham Yard Hotel on Monday 26th February. Pan Macmillan’s communications team joined David Olusoga, Chris Baker and Mariam Khan to take part in a roundtable discussion entitled “The Future of Knowledge” at The Knowledge Quarter's first conference. The event took place on Monday February 12th and celebrated Pan Macmillan’s 175th anniversary.

 

HRH the Duchess of Cornwall met children from a local school during a visit to The Book Corner which is located in Piece Hall, a grade 1 listed building in Halifax. 

 

24 bookshops across the UK took part in Isadora Moon Day during February half term, celebrating Harriet Muncaster’s best-selling series.

 

Mohamad Meqdad, project lead on the Muslim Civilisations Abstract Project, spoke at the Landscape of Arab Publications which was hosted by AKU-ISMC on Wednesday 31st January.
