Piatkus has acquired a new saga by Kay Brellend set in 1913 North London.
Anna Boatman, editorial director of Piatkus Fiction, acquired world rights to three books in Brellend's Barratts Sweet Factory saga from Juliet Burton.
Brellend’s sagas follow the same Islington family covering the years between WW1 And WW2 and up to Coronation Day, beginning with her first saga The Street in 2011 that spent nine weeks in the Fiction Heatseekers chart. It was followed by non-series The Windmill Girls in 2015 and Rosie's War in 2016, all published by Harper.
The Barratts Sweet Factory saga will launch in 2017.
Boatman said: "Kay’s new series, set in North London in 1913, tells the stories of the families who work for Barratts Sweet Factory. It has all the heart, grit and powerful evocation of time and place that distinguishes her as one of the most exciting voices in the saga genre. We are so delighted to welcome her to the list and can’t wait to publish this wonderful series."
