Little, Brown imprint Piatkus has joined forces with Hachette Ireland in acquiring two novels by Zoe Miller.
Ciara Doorley, senior editor at Hachette Ireland, has paid a five-figure sum for Irish, UK and Commonwealth rights to two new books by the Irish author from Sheila Crowley at Curtis Brown. Piatkus has "made a contribution” towards the sum, and will be "looking after” Miller in the UK and Commonwealth. Profits made in these territories will go to both firms.
Emma Beswetherick, senior editor for fiction at Piatkus, said: "This is the first time we have done something like this. Hachette Ireland published Zoe’s debut, Guilty Secret, so they negotiated the deal, but it will be a joint venture, with us editing the book together and publishing at the same time.”
Sinful Deceptions will be released as a trade paperback in March next year, with a mass market paperback due in November. The second book in the deal, currently untitled, is due out at the same times and formats the following year. Beswetherick compared Miller to No Reservations author Fiona O’Brien. She added: "It’s very sexy, very twisty, and very clever.”
Although a first for Piatkus, Hachette Ireland collaborated with Hodder in April, in a "significant six-figure sum” for a two-book deal with author Ciara Geraghty.
