Penguin Random House (PRH) UK has released a second app based on Roald Dahl’s The Twits, featuring the first ever rendering of Mr and Mrs Twit in 3D.
The app, entitled "Roald Dahl’s House of Twits", is set in the Twits’ house and requires players to explores rooms such as the “filthy” kitchen, Mr Twit’s shed and the “ghastly” bathroom. They score points by poking, feeding and tricking the pair, for example tugging on Mr Twit’s beard or stealing Mrs Twit’s glass eye.
PRH developed the app the Roald Dahl Literary Estate and interactive entertainment studio Chunk, using imagery inspired by the original illustrations by Quentin Blake. It is on sale today (22nd October) from the App Store and Google Play Store for £2.99, and has no in-app purchases or third-party adverts.
"Roald Dahl’s House of Twits" is the second app based on The Twits launched by PRH this year. In July it launched "Twit or Miss", a food fight game.
This year is the 35th anniversary of The Twits; in May PRH Children’s released a new edition of the book with a “scratch and sniff ” cover that smells like Mr Twit’s beard. Playwright Enda Walsh has also adapted the story into a play, which was staged at the Royal Court in London in April.
