Pearson confirms redundancy talks

<p>Pearson Education has confirmed that it is in discussions with a number of staff members over the continuation of their roles at its Oxford and Harlow offices.</p><p>A spokesman at the educational publisher said the company &quot;did not comment on staffing matters generally&quot;, but confirmed it was consulting with &quot;a small number of staff&quot; in the two locations, which became part of Pearson after its acquisition of Harcourt Education in May 2007. Reports suggested that 39 positions were at risk.</p><p>The spokesman added: &quot;Pearson always seeks to find suitable roles for staff across the business and will be consulting with its staff to secure the right roles for people wherever possible.&quot;</p>
