Pan Macmillan is strengthening its fiction communications team with two senior appointments, separating out commercial fiction and brands from literature and partnerships.
Claire Evans [pictured] has been recruited from Transworld to take on the newly-created role of communications director, commercial fiction and brands, starting in April, while Emma Bravo has been promoted to the new role of communications director, fiction, literature and partnerships.
Evans, deputy marketing director at Transworld Publishers since January 2015, will have imprint accountability to Fiction and Mantle as well as a strategic comms leadership role across the adult brands. In her new role she will report to Sara Lloyd, digital and communications director.
Bravo, who has led the fiction communications team since its restructure in 2013, will retain imprint accountability to Picador, Collector's Library and Bello, and will continue to be responsible for strategic partnerships.
Sarah Arratoon, senior fiction marketing manager at Pan Macmillan, has also been promoted to head of marketing for fiction.
Lloyd, digital and communications director at Pan Macmillan, said: “We are a fast growing business and we are investing in our authors, the editors to acquire and develop them and, in communications and beyond, we have begun to further develop our brand management and partnership skills.
“We want to sustain our market beating growth rate and to do this we have identified the need to separate out the comms leadership for commercial fiction and brands, incorporating Fiction and Mantle, and literature and partnerships, incorporating Picador, Collectors Library and Bello. These changes will drive further growth, strengthen our focus on our distinctive publishing areas and their audiences, and add new skills and perspectives to the senior comms team.”
She added: “I am delighted to welcome Claire Evans from Transworld who will help us manage the growth in the number, quality, frequency and success of our Fiction brand authors. Claire is an experienced senior marketing leader who has worked for Victor Gollancz, Orion and most recently at Transworld as deputy marketing director...
“I’m also thrilled to announce that Emma Bravo is promoted to the new role of communications director, Fiction, Literature and Partnerships. Emma has been instrumental in developing our Fiction Comms team into a truly integrated one and has already brought many innovative partnerships to the business, such as our ongoing exclusive partnership with The Pool."
