Pan Macmillan has bought a Finnish detective series, described as a “Nordic take on Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple”.
Natasha Harding acquired world English rights to the books, to be called The Lavender Ladies Detective Agency in the UK, by Minna Lindgren from the Elina Ahlback Literary Agency.
The trilogy follows two spirited ladies who live in a Helsinki retirement home where they unravel a series of mysteries.
The first two titles have already been published in Finland, originally as the Twilight Grove trilogy.
Pan Macmillan will publish them as The Lavender Ladies Detective Agency: Death in Sunset Grove, Escape from Sunset Grove and The End of Sunset Grove.
Harding said: “The central characters are both funny and endearing and they make for an interesting detective duo. I’m delighted to be publishing this trilogy.”
The first book, translated by Lola Rogers, will publish in English in June 2016.
