Pan Macmillan has acquired Oprah Winfrey’s memoir The Life You Want, a book that uses her own story as the source of inspirational advice.
Non-fiction publisher Robin Harvie bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Jennifer Rudolph Walsh at WME and will publish the memoir in January 2017, simultaneously with sister company Flatiron Books in the US and Canada, and Pan Macmillan Australia who will publish the book in Australia and New Zealand. Pan Macmillan India and South Africa will publish in their respective markets.
Anthony Forbes Watson, m.d. at Pan Macmillan, said: "Oprah is astonishing. There is no other word for her. The Life You Want will be a landmark publishing event. Everyone at Pan Macmillan is in awe of what Oprah has achieved in her life, and this memoir and guide promises to be an inspiration around the world."
Bob Miller, president and publisher of Flatiron Books, said: "We're deeply honoured to publish The Life You Want, which is such a remarkable combination of Oprah's life story and the lessons we can all draw from it for our personal growth."
Winfrey said: “All of my experiences, even the painful ones, have been there to teach me something about life. I’m still learning and I hope my story inspires other people to live the highest, fullest expression of themselves."
