Orion has signed a trilogy of novels from historian Kate Williams.
Jon Wood, deputy group publisher of Orion, paid a "healthy six figures" for world rights excluding the USA and Canada, in a deal with William Morris.
The books, beginning with The Storms of War, follow the de Witt family between 1914 and 1939. Wood said: "This will be an epic family trilogy set against the backdrop of war and huge seismic change."
Williams has written several non-fiction books and makes regular appearances in the media to discuss history, royalty and and constitutional matters.
The Storms of War will be released in July 2014.
