Orion has acquired the first book from Early Years specialist and playHOORAY! founder Claire Russell, to publish in e-book next week.
Publishing director Sam Eades acquired world rights in The playHOORAY! Handbook, from Bev James at Bev James Media & Management, in response to the millions of parents finding themselves home-schooling their children.
"Claire is on a mission to spread the word about the joy of play, and I’ve had so much fun testing these activities with my daughter," said Eades. "This book is a lifesaver for busy parents who want to spend quality time with their kids, with simple ideas for play using inexpensive items from around the house and in the garden."
Containing over 100 ideas to help parents entertain and educate their children through play, it will publish on the Seven Dials list in e-book format on 20th April 2020 followed by a trade paperback on 23rd July 2020.
PlayHOORAY! is a community for parents, carers and educators supporting play that also sells activity cards. Russell, its founder, commented: "Five years ago when I became a mum for the first time I discovered that days at home with a young child were lovely, but often long and lonely. Play saved me and now I am delighted to share my expertise and ideas in this book to help other parents looking for ways to keep their kids busy."
