Orion has launched an online initiative to support independent booksellers in the UK and Ireland, providing resources such as free-to-download in-store point of sale and exclusive offers.
More than 100 bookshops have registered for BookBark. Orion field sales director Dominic Smith said: "Orion is proud to be the first publisher to create an informative, interactive, and innovative website exclusively for independent bookshops.
"We have the largest sales force in the UK made up of experienced and knowledgeable professional representatives who call on independent booksellers regularly, and now BookBark provides many additional benefits that can be accessed any time, such as special offers, access to signed copies, book information and ready-to-customise point of sale items."
He added: "We already have a number of interested booksellers who have signed up to the website and hope that every independent customer will join to enjoy this indispensible resource."
Digital marketing manager Julia Pidduck said the site was a place for "inspiration" for independents as they can browse titles and promotions, as well as see what extra POS can be ordered, which authors are available for events and with promotional tools available to download and print. She said: "The site has huge possibilities for the future and we hope to develop and tailor it to best suit the needs of its users."
The website will also send a free email newsletter to subscribers alerting users to the new additions in the research area.
