Orion acquires new Malpas trilogy

Orion has acquired the rights to a new trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas as part of a global deal.

Genevieve Pegg, editorial director for Orion Fiction, acquired UK rights to the as yet untitled trilogy. Beth de Guzman, v.p., digital and paperback publisher at Forever, an imprint of Hachette Book Group’s Grand Central Publishing division, acquired the North American and translation rights.

The deal was done with Andrea Barzvi of Empire Literary in New York.

Malpas previously wrote the This Man trilogy, which she self-published in October 2012 and which Orion published in 2013 in paperback, with added content.

The new series is described as following "a passionate love story between Livy and M."

Pegg said: “Jodi writes with an intensity and heat that’s hard to beat. For readers who’ve been seduced by This Man, and anyone who craves unforgettable characters and drama that’s utterly addictive, these new novels will be essential reading.”

The books will be released over a six-month span, with the first in August this year, the second in November, and the third in February 2015. They will be published as paperback originals and e-books.
