Orbit buys debut fantasy series

Orbit has bought UK and Commonwealth rights to a debut novel, dubbed "a fantasy version of The Magnificent Seven".

Commissioning editor Anna Gregson bought the rights from Tracy Williams at Hachette Book Group USA to Seven Princes and two further books in the series from author John R Fultz.

Gregson said: "I’m thrilled to have acquired this extremely grand, fast-moving and highly accessible epic fantasy series. It has a wonderfully unique fairytale feel, and is about an ultimate battle of good versus evil – featuring dark magics, nations at war, and plenty of giant fantastical creatures! With books two and three yet to come, entitled Seven Kings and Seven Sorcerers, this marks the start of a powerful new series. Think a fantasy version of The Magnificent Seven."

The Little, Brown imprint and Orbit US will publish in all territories together, with the first book in the series scheduled for release in January 2012.
