Online retailer Bookshop racks up £415k sales in launch week

In its first week of operation in the UK, website Bookshop.org has sold £415,000 worth of books to more than 20,000 customers.

The firm, which launched in the UK on 2nd November and made sales of £65,000 on its first day, has made nearly £80,000 for indie bookshops so far. It started with 150 UK indie bookshops signed up but now has more than 250 on board.

Set-up by US publisher Andy Hunter, the site gives indie bookshops 30% of the cover price from each sale they generate on the platform, with 10% of sales through affiliates also going to stores.
