Oneworld to reissue bin Laden title

Oneworld is to publish a special edition of its title Growing up bin Laden, written by relatives of the Al Qaeda leader, in the wake of his death on 2nd May.

First published in 2009, the title has been rejacketed to include Osama bin Laden's face, and will be re-issued on 16th May as an £8.99 paperback with a print run of 20,000 copies.

Growing Up bin Laden is written by bin Laden's first wife Najwa and fourth-eldest son Omar, with Jean Sasson, the author of Princess and Behind the Veil. It is the only account of bin Laden written by close family members, according to the publisher.

Oneworld publisher Juliet Mabey said: "Our office has been under siege all week from journalists asking to reprint family photos and quotes from the book, and orders have been flooding in from booksellers all over the world. We're almost out of stock."

According to the publisher, the title offers "an unrivalled insight into the guarded private life of Osama bin Laden and his family", from a privileged existence in Saudi Arabia, to life on the run in the Sudan to the mountain retreat of Tora Bora, Afghanistan. It also includes photographs from bin Laden's personal family photo album.
