Oneworld has hired Perseus Books UK senior account manager Thanhmai Bui-Van to head up a new in-house UK sales force.
Thanhmai Bui-Van, currently senior account manager for Perseus Books UK, is joining the company in the newly created role of sales manager and will be responsible for the head office accounts of Foyles and Daunts as well as the wholesalers Bertrams and Gardners.
Bui-Van will also cover London, Oxford, Cambridge and the South East.
The company said the in house sales team will be effective from 1st December 2016, following a year in which sales have risen by 34% in 2015.
Joining Bui-Van will be three field reps, Anna Murphy, who will sell in to Scotland and the North of England, Debbie Jones, who will manage the South West of England, and Ian Tripp, who will cover the Midlands and Wales. All four will report to sales director Kate Beal, who will continue to sell to Waterstones and WH Smith as well as the supermarkets.
Sales of the company’s titles in Ireland are handled by Repforce Ireland.
Marlon James’ A Brief History of Seven Killings, published by Oneworld, won the Man Booker prize last year and The Sellout by Paul Beatty is also shortlisted for this year’s Man Booker Prize.
Beal said: “On the back of Oneworld’s recent awards and substantial growth over the last few years, we felt it was time to bring all our sales management in house so we can focus on developing a national strategy for our business with both the chains and independent booksellers. Thanhmai and the new field reps will be a great asset to our team, steering our sales in these areas with passion, knowledge and a fresh new energy.”
Thanhmai can be reached on: thanhmai@oneworld-publications.com from November 17th.
