Oneworld has bought the rights for a debut book by science writer, Frank Swain. Commissioning editor, Marsha Filion acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Peter Tallack of the Science Factory.
Zombology: The New Science of Zombies, Reanimation and Mind Control looks at scientific literature and the stories of zombies within them. The book explores how humans attempt to influence each other and how the human body could even be taken over by other organisms.
Filion said: "[Swain] is an extremely talented writer, knows what is going to appeal to the general public, and has a great future ahead of him. And this is one of those projects that would actually make me look forward to coming in to the office each morning."
Swain is an English freelance journalist and science writer. He created SciencePunk.com, a website about strange scientific facts. In 2008 he was recruited by Sense About Science, a London-based charity set up to promote evidence-based science in public discussion.
