HarperCollins division One More Chapter is joining forces with Spread the Word on an initiative to help underrepresented fiction writers into the industry.
On 11th February, Spread the Word's London Writers Network membership scheme will host a seminar from One More Chapter publishing director Charlotte Ledger and digital marketing manager Melanie Price. The seminar will cover the different routes to publication, with a particular focus on understanding digital first publishing.
This London Writers Network event will be paired with a call for submissions from writers underrepresented in publishing including an opportunity for one-to-one feedback with the One More Chapter editorial team. The call will be open from 1st to 31st March, with full details released on the day of the event.
Price said: “We’re delighted to be joining forces with Spread the Word on this series of offerings for aspiring authors, having long admired their brilliant, inclusive initiatives. The gap between publishers and writers is far too large and One More Chapter is committed to enacting change and ensuring our publishing and community is representative for all. We are looking forward to meeting new writers through our collaboration with the fantastic Spread the Word network.
A spokesperson for Spread the Word added: “We’re excited to be working with One More Chapter to offer a fresh insight into publishing for our writing community and also an invaluable feedback opportunity to writers through a call for submissions. Partnerships and collaboration are key to making change and we’re looking forward to finding new voices in commercial fiction and to helping them take the next step in their creative career.”
