Indie publisher Oldcastle Books is launching a new imprint of classic fiction titles, marketing them with eye-catching, retro covers.
The books will have taglines such as "Lock Up Your Daughters . . . Darcy's in Town!" for Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and "When it came to loving . . . he knew which Daisy to pick" for F Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.
Oldcastle will release its first classic on 28th January, a limited release of Pride and Prejudice (£6.99) to mark the 200th anniversary of its publication, with WHS Travel promoting the book through its stores for its first month.
Then in May, Robinson Crusoe (£6.99), The Hound of the Baskervilles (£5.99) and The Great Gatsby (£4.99) will follow. Alexandra Bolton, marketing manager at Oldcastle, said: "The books have the added dimension of being striking, attractive and amusing to look at as objects in their own right."
