Kenyan Ngugi wa Thiong’o, Nigerian Ben Okri and Angolan Ondjaki have won the Grinzane For Africa prize in Ethiopia this week.
The award is sponsored by an Italian foundation, and was given as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the UN Economic Commission for Africa.
Ngugi won the Grinzane “Heritage Prize”, Okri the “Mainstream Prize” and Ondjaki the “Young Author of the Year” prize.
