Octopus bags first book of recipes and stories from The Pig hotel group

Octopus has acquired the first book from The Pig hotel group, described as “a practical guide to living the good life” with tales and recipes.

Stephanie Jackson, publisher at Octopus, acquired world rights for all languages from Felicity Blunt at Curtis Brown. The Pig: Tales and Recipes from the Kitchen Garden and Beyond will be published in August 2019 as a £30 hardback.

The Pig is a collection of hotels in Hampshire, Devon, Dorset and Somerset, with more on the way. Founded by Robin Hutson, his wife Judy Hutson and David Elton, The Pig group opened its first venue in 2011 in the New Forest, which became known for its kitchen garden and relaxed country hotel-style approach, winning a string of awards. 

Octopus is promising “an idiosyncratic, seasonal approach to the good life, with delicious recipes, how-to guides and stories”.

Robin Hutson said: “Over the years, since we opened The Pig, lots of people have seemed fascinated by how we go about things so we thought we'd have a go at writing some of it down.”
