O'Brien, Atiq and Cowell to headline LBF as 2020 Authors of the Day

Irish novelist Edna O'Brien, poet Afra Atiq and Waterstones Children's Laureate Cressida Cowell (pictured) will headline London Book Fair's 2020 Author of the Day programme.

With 2020 marking both the 60th anniversary of O'Brien's début, Country Girls, and UK paperback publication of her new novel Girl (July 2020), LBF will honour O’Brien on its opening day on Tuesday 10th March.

As part of this year’s Sharjah Market Focus, LBF will welcome award-winning Emirati poet Atiq to headline the second day of the fair with Cowell set to headline the final day of the event on Thursday 12th March.

LBF director Jacks Thomas said: "This year’s LBF Authors of the Day line-up reflects books’ immense influence and adaptability–with trailblazing classics to international blockbuster film adaptations sitting alongside the oldest storytelling tradition of performance poetry. This line-up is a wonderful highlight of the 2020 London Book Fair. A true literary treat!"
