Andrew Nurnberg Associates will open a new office in Warsaw, to be run by Marcin Biegaj, currently senior agent and sales director at the Graal Literary Agency.
The opening follows a decision by Andrew Nurnberg Associates and Warsaw's BookLab Literary Agency to part company. BookLab – run by Aleksandra Lapinska - will continue to operate as a separate agency and will be responsible for extant contracts drawn before 1st July until their natural expiry.
Andrew Nurnberg said: “I’m delighted that Marcin is joining the ANA team. His reputation amongst local publishers and international rights holders goes before him and we look forward to realising our shared ambition to provide the best literary representation in Poland.”
The new offices of Andrew Nurnberg Associates Warsaw will be up and running by 1st September.
Biegaj is a graduate of Polish and English studies at Warsaw University. He has worked at Graal Literary Agency for eight years, specialising in literary as well as commercial fiction, including crime and psychological thrillers.
He said of his new role: “I’ve always enjoyed being a part of the publishing industry, not least for the unpredictable and exciting parts of it. After years of admiring the authors I love, I am thrilled at the prospect of networking with many new publishers and agents as part of the superb Andrew Nurnberg Associates team.”
He added: “I’m convinced the current opportunities for an international rights agency to prosper in one of the most dynamic territories in the region are bright. Publishing in Poland continues to inspire me and, notwithstanding the current challenges of the market place, has the power to reinvent itself like no other industry.”
