NUJ calls for publishing jobs summit

The National Union of Journalists is holding a Publishing Industry Jobs Summit in October. The event is billed as a chance to help shape the debate about how the union can turn the tide of cutbacks, redundancies and reorganisations currently taking place at magazine and book publishers through collective action.

"It’s presented as an inevitable result of the credit crunch, but there’s nothing inevitable about it," the NUJ said. "Magazine publishing remains intensely - sometimes outrageously - profitable, and the employers want to keep it that way, whatever the consequences for staff, freelances and readers."

The Jobs Summit will take place on Saturday 10th October 2009 from 11.30am in Headland House, Grays Inn Road, London, WC1X 8DP.

For further details, or to register, contact campaigns@nuj.org.uk.
