A group of ten independent publishers from the North East of England have formed a coalition to discuss joint marketing strategies and have a bigger voice in the industry.
The NEPub group was informally begun last autumn by Tonto Books and Zymurgy Publishing and recently launched a joint website (www.nepub.co.uk" target="_blank">www.nepub.co.uk). The group will meet next week to discuss collective marketing strategies and a programme of workshops for members.
Martin Ellis, publisher of Zymurgy, said: "Small independents, whether they are from the North East or London, have the same challenges of how to get our books into the shops. With NEPub, we're coming together to discuss how to meet that challenge."
Joining Tonto and Zymurgy are Ergo Press, Flambard Press, CIA Training, Myrmidon Books, Northumbria University Press, Orana Publishing, Tyne Bridge Publishing and Zed Said.
