No Exit Press buys literary thriller

No Exit Press has acquired a literary thriller by US author and journalist William Giraldi.

Managing director Ion Mills bought UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) for the book, titled Hold The Dark, from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein Agency. W W Norton is publishing the book in the US this September.

Hold The Dark is set on the Alaskan tundra, where wolves have come for the children of the isolated village of Keelut, including the six-year-old son of Medora Slone. Shattered by grief and seeking consolation, Medora contacts wolf expert Russell Core. As Core immerses himself in the settlement, he discovers an unholy truth harboured by the village.

Mills said: “No Exit is delighted and honoured to be publishing Hold The Dark. It is an epic and powerful read, exactly the kind of beautifully written noir fiction that is the cornerstone of No Exit Press. There won't be a better literary thriller published next year.”

Giraldi currently lives in Boston where he teaches at the university. He is also a regular contributor to the New York Times Book Review and author of the novel Busy Monsters (W W Norton & Co).

No Exit Press will publish Hold The Dark as a paperback original in February 2015.
