Greta Thunberg will headline this year’s the Southbank Centre London Literature Festival, with a world exclusive launch of The Climate Book (Allen Lane).
The event, in collaboration with Penguin Live, will be streamed live for free around the world. The wider festival will run from 20th to 30th October, with a free programme of events for all the family during the opening weekend.
Other highlights include Malorie Blackman in conversation with Candice Brathwaite about her autobiography Just Sayin’ (Merky Books), Nobel Prize-winner Abdulrazak Gurnah speaking at the Edward W Said London Lecture to address the significance of place, while Booker Prize-winner George Saunders returns to the UK for the first time in five years to celebrate the global publication of his short story collection liberation day (Bloomsbury).
The Southbank Centre will be supporting new writing talent with events featuring debut London writers. There will also be a number of poetry events, including a showcase performed by the 2021 New Poets Collective and a National Poetry Library Open Day.
